Material Issueの名作が発売20周年記念でリイシュー
『International Pop Overthrow: 20th Anniversary Edition』
Material Issueが1991にリリースし「Valerie Loves Me」や「Diane」などのヒットを生んだマスターピース『International Pop Overthrow』の20周年を記念してHip-o Selectより4月に再発される。
オリジナルアルバムのリマスターであることに加え、8曲のボーナストラックが追加収録。そのうち6曲はプロモーション用ディスク『Eleven Supersonic Hit Explosions』に収録されたもの、そして残りはCMJのサンプラーに収録されていた「Sixteen Tambourines」と完全に未発表（と思しき）「The Girl With the Saddest Eyes」の2曲だ。
メインストリームでの活躍や、アルバム名がそのままフェスの名前になるなど今でも強い影響力を持つMaterial Issue。フロントマン、Jim Ellisonの自殺という悲劇の終焉という事実も含めてかもしれないが、この紛れもない名盤が再び新しいファンを生むことを期待したい。
